With this decree, the American president wants to "help" car manufacturers "during this transition period" by preventing them from paying a cumulative customs duty on imported vehicles and parts.

US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday, April 29, aimed at preventing car manufacturers producing in the US from having to pay a cumulative customs duty on imported vehicles and parts.

"We just want to help them through this transition period. Short term," the president said before leaving for Detroit, Michigan, the heart of the American auto industry, to mark his first 100 days in office .
